NOVEMBER GENERAL MEETING

At this month's meeting, we are honored to bring you Ms. Jennifer Messiah as our guest speaker. 

Jennifer Massiah, MBA-HRM, B.Soc. Sc, Mng. is a very passionate social entrepreneur with 20 plus years, Jennifer has been at the helm of two local chapters of Habitat for Humanity in the Caribbean; the National Director of Habitat for Humanity Trinidad and Tobago (Dec 2006 to present) and prior to TT, Habitat for Humanity Guyana (2002 –2006).

Specializes in Governance and Financial Management, Human Resource Management, Community Development, Donor and Resource Development, Project Management and Advocacy especially as it relates to Non-Profits Sector in both Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago. Past positions held in the private sector industry; HR Manager, CEO of a manufacturing/construction company, company secretary to name a few. Has also served on the board of several regional and national religious bodies. Jennifer represents CSOs on the Caribbean Urban Forum.

With the advent of global economic and climate change challenges, new approaches to fundraising and advocacy have become her passion. She is an advocate on governance and transparency in CSOs and posits that accountability equals credibility and integrity. Has supported several CSOs under these same themes of increased governance. A champion of the New Urban Agenda, SDG 11; Sustainable Cities and Communities especially at it relates to the Caribbean and Disaster Risk Reduction and Resiliency.  Has made many presentations at the Habitat for Humanity International, CUF, World Bank, IDB and EU forums on resiliency and Habitat’s contributions through its varied projects and programmes. Jennifer is currently working with The Habitat for Humanity LAC Area Office in the development of the Caribbean (English speaking) Operational Model to serve the vulnerable communities with Disaster Risk Reduction and Recovery programmes for English-speaking Caribbean Region.
