WELCOME TO THE TRINIDAD & TOBAGO ASSOCIATION OF WASHINGTON D.C., INC. |
It is with much sadness that we report the passing of one of our longstanding members Mr. Ronnie See-Tai. Ronnie was our resident artist, producing flyers and artwork for numerous events in the DC area from the 1960’s up through the 1999’s all hand drawn pieces of art. He was also know as the in-house chef at the original club house at 1501 Delafield Place, NW DC.
Ronnie placed first in the Trinidad & Tobago Exibition examination for entry into the prestegious Queens Royal College (QRC) for his high school education where he was a Sea Scout and excelled as a swimmer. He migratedto the US and pursued his undergrad studies at Howard University where he achieved his Bachelor of Arts degree. He also was a part of its swimming team. At his passing he was the oldest member of the QRC Alumnis in the DMV.
Being friends with students from Bishop Asnstey High School (BAHS), and because of his personality and culinary skills he became an honorary member of their Washington chapter of the Alumni Association (Hilarian) from its inception, and could be found assisting them in the early days of their fundraising efforts for BAHS.
In the eighties, Ronnie became the "Artistic Director" of the T&T Masqueraders, where he was responsible for drawing costumes, creating flyers and producing Screen prints of their colorful Tee Shirts which are still worn to this day.
Ronnie was a kind soul that would assist wherever he was needed. He was found unresponsive by Paramendics on the morning of December 13th. He was ill for some time and was contacted regularly by several of his friends and fellow members of TTADC.
TTADC assisted the family to ensure that his desired "Celebration of Life" is done in true Ronnie style.
The "Celebration of Life" held on Friday 29th December at The Parish Hall at The Church of the Ascension 633 Sligo Ave. Silver Spring, MD 20910 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm can be viewed HERE
